Meet the Therapist

Smiling woman with curly hair wearing a yellow shirt and layered necklaces.

A'Sharee Brown, LMFT

I'm a licensed marriage therapist with a deep passion for supporting individuals and families on their journey to mental wellness. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology, with a minor in African American Studies, from California State University, San Bernardino. I then completed my Master’s in Counseling at San Francisco State University, specializing in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling as well as College Counseling.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with diverse communities—from young children to adults—across a variety of settings, including community colleges, nonprofits, private practices, school-based services, and even correctional facilities. My experience has allowed me to support clients dealing with a range of challenges, including co-morbid disorders, and to meet people exactly where they are.

I believe in creating a safe, empathetic, and empowering space for personal transformation, where you can become your highest self. My approach is all about meeting you where you are and supporting you on your unique path to healing and growth. I’m here to work with those who are ready to embark on that journey together.

A'Sharee Brown, M.S., LMFT #137332

The Work

My Approach

My approach as a licensed marriage therapist is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you. I blend a culturally aware perspective with practical tools to support your mental wellness and facilitate personal transformation. Using evidence-based practices like CBT, TF-CBT, mindfulness, and strength-based frameworks, I adapt my style to your needs—whether that means offering structure and skill-building or creating space for reflection and emotional processing.

Additionally, my work is heavily influenced by developmental and psychodynamic theories. I view each person holistically, considering how their developmental experiences, family dynamics, and upbringing shape who they become from adolescence into adulthood. This holistic perspective helps us understand you as a whole person and guides us in creating a path toward healing and growth.

Areas of Focus

As a licensed marriage therapist, I work with individuals from underrepresented communities and those seeking a supportive, non-judgmental space for mental wellness. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, trauma, or just feeling overwhelmed, I'm here to help you heal and grow. Together, we’ll focus on personal transformation, building self-confidence and a stronger sense of belonging.

Life Transitions and Identity Exploration: Helping clients navigate changes, discover their identities, and build resilience.

Stress, Anxiety, and Trauma: Utilizing CBT, TF-CBT, and mindfulness to manage and alleviate anxiety and trauma-related symptoms for improved mental wellness.

Emotional Intelligence and Self-Reflection: Guiding clients to develop these crucial skills, which can transform their lives and relationships.

Culturally Aware and Inclusive Care: Providing a supportive environment that respects and integrates clients’ cultural backgrounds and experiences.

Communication Style

As a licensed marriage therapist, I communicate with warmth, empathy, and clarity. My tone is compassionate and straightforward, allowing me to listen deeply to understand your unique story. I provide honest feedback and practical strategies focused on your mental wellness and personal transformation, adjusting my approach to what feels right for you.

Your First Session & Goal Setting

In your first session with a licensed marriage therapist, we'll focus on making you feel at ease. We’ll discuss what brought you here and outline how we can work together on your mental wellness. It's a gentle, welcoming start designed to build trust and clarity from day one. Together, we set meaningful goals, break them into manageable steps, and celebrate progress along the way. As your needs evolve throughout your personal transformation, we adapt our goals to ensure that therapy remains relevant and supportive of your journey.
